Hurricane Igor Collects Force In The Caribbean
The South Atlantic, especially the Caribbean is a firing gallery for hurricanes. Each and every year islands and main lands of North and South America get battered. This year’s hurricane season is currently in full swing. Fortunately though, it hasn’t been terribly bad. You will find a number of storm systems that are becoming potentially lethal right now. There is special concern over tropical storm Igor. Igor has been reclassified as Hurricane Igor. The hurricane is currently within the Atlantic, far from any significant areas, but is heading in the direction of Bermuda. Hurricane Igor is not projected to hit the United States at present.
The development of Hurricane Igor
Hurricane Igor, formerly tropical storm Igor, had grown large enough for hurricane status by Sept. 11. According to CNN, it had started as a Category Two. Igor was then upgraded to a Category Four. Igor is nevertheless within the middle of nowhere, however is still a deadly potent Category Four storm. The hurricane is heading in the general direction of Bermuda. The storm is nevertheless hundreds of miles away from the Leeward Islands, the nearest land masses. Another tropical storm system is in the Caribbean, Tropical Storm Julia. Julia is nevertheless only a tropical storm, but briefly was a Category One hurricane.
Hurricane being supervised
According to the Los Angeles Times, Hurricane Igor is not aimed directly at any particular landmass. It’s not known if the storm will make landfall anywhere. It is, though, moving in the direction of Bermuda. There is a relative chance that Igor will intensify into a Category Five hurricane. It may change, but no advisories or warnings are being issued yet. The Atlantic coast of the United States of America and Canada was briefly threatened by Hurricane Earl, though Earl went back out to sea soon after approaching the coast.
2010 hurricane season is not over
The hurricane season lasts half the year, from June until the conclusion of November. This year has not been the worst, though storms have battered some areas. Hurricane Alex hit the coast of Mexico, and several islands have experienced severe flooding because of previous hurricanes. There have thankfully been few fatalities, and most were drowning due to rip currents caused by hurricanes.

American Empire and the Politics of Meaning: Elite Political Cultures in the Philippines and Puerto Rico during U.S. Colonialism (Politics, History, and Culture) When the United States took control of the Philippines and Puerto Rico in the wake of the Spanish-American War, it declared that it would transform its new colonies through lessons in self-government and the ways of American-style democracy. In both territories, U.S. colonial officials built extensive public school systems, and they set up American-style elections and governmental institutions. Th… |
